Rowing for Help for Heroes

April 2011

An adventure... of sorts

Crossing the Indian Ocean from Australia to Mauritius, alone in a 24 foot carbon-fibre rowboat... crazy? Perhaps.

There are dangers but the thrills outweigh them a thousand times. Riding out a storm is terrifying, exhilarating and the ultimate experience. Until you try surfing 30 foot waves in a rowing boat – that, so far, is unbeatable!

Rowing solo across 3,700 miles of ocean will be an enormous challenge and I am determined to enjoy every second of it.

Who should benefit?

The aim is to raise over £37,000 for Help for Heroes

The race will cover around 3,700 miles of the Indian Ocean, and you can sponsor a mile of my journey by donating £10 to Help for Heroes charity.

(please donate as much as you can, there are thousands of miles of ocean)

What is H4H all about? It’s about the blokes, our men and women. It’s about Derri, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he’s been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
